CYBERBULLYING
ASPECTS, CONSEQUENCES AND SUPPORT
  • Government Services
  • Dialogbild
Time and again, the Deutscher Kinderverein e.V. is committed to raising awareness of the issue of child protection. Shaking people up, informing them, bringing uncomfortable facts to the public’s attention: raising awareness is one of many measures aimed at finally bringing about effective countermeasures in politics and society. The new dialog picture thus addresses one of the most pressing issues of our time: cyberbullying.
The consequences are indeed dramatic: every school day becomes a living hell; photos, videos and comments can no longer be deleted from the internet; and victims suffer to the extent that some even take their own lives. Working closely with lawyer Gesa Stückmann, the DIALOGBILD has once again volunteered to handle the graphic design, and an accompanying website is also planned.
“Children should explore the digital world with curiosity and learn to look after themselves and others in the process,” says Gesa Stückmann, who offers webinars on the subject for pupils and teachers. The dialog picture lists various offences and their criminal consequences, as well as practical advice on how victims and their parents should respond.

The dialog picture focuses on the perpetrator, who acts anonymously and without having to look his victims in the face. The numerous facets of cyberbullying – ranging from the dissemination of personal information and photos, and the creation of fake profiles on social media, to insults, abuse, defamation and coercion – are explained.

This version of the image has been adapted once again specifically for the province of Carinthia in accordance with their requirements.

INDIVIDUAL SCENES AND THEIR MEANING

Right to one’s own image

If Toni shares pictures of other people without their permission, this is a criminal offence. This also applies to creating, sending and sharing stickers of other people.

Coercion

After their break-up, Toni uses the nude photos to put pressure on his ex. This is known as coercion and is a criminal offence.

Fake

Toni creates a fake profile of another person and posts it publicly. The victim can report the matter to the police and claim compensation for pain and suffering.

Photomontage (Meme)

Toni creates a deepfake of another person and distributes it. Toni is therefore liable to prosecution for defamation and incitement to hatred.
