HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH is a company belonging to the HOMAG Group and offers panel saws and systems for dimensionally accurate finished cuts for almost all panel materials – whether wood, plastic or composite materials. With matching software and service solutions, orders are processed flexibly, quickly and economically. Around 420 people at the Holzbronn site produce saws and systems for carpenters and joiners, interior designers and contract furnisher, kitchen and office furniture manufacturers – in short, for the entire furniture industry, from small to large.
In its 50-year history, HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH has become the global market leader in horizontal panel cutting technology. The Holzbronn plant was named ‘Factory of the Year 2019’ in the ‘Outstanding Small Series Production’ category for its advanced production system. ‘Factory of the Year’ is one of the most prestigious industrial competitions in Europe. The main prize went to Mercedes-AMG, with HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik joined on the winners' podium by companies such as Continental, Brose, Voith and Kärcher. This award is presented annually by the management consultancy A.T. Kearney in collaboration with the trade journal Produktion.
HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH has installed a comprehensive production system in recent years. To this end, all processes were reviewed, optimised and streamlined. The focus was on the principles of cycling, flow and pull in production in order to design flow assembly for small series. The result was a high degree of agility and flexibility. Today, production is so flexible that fluctuations in capacity utilisation of up to 30% can be absorbed at any time.
But what does the future hold? HOMAG has visualised its future process vision in a dialog picture. The dialog picture shows the connections between production principles, methods and values and their relationship to individual work tasks and individual positions. The aim is to create a common understanding of the changes that will take place over the next few years and to get all employees on board: Where do we want to go and what is our path? With the help of the dialog picture, the goals can be communicated in an understandable way and interactive exchange with employees can be promoted.
„For us, the real added value of the dialog picture lay in the process of developing the image. Together with the plant's managers, we created a shared image that incorporated the ideas of each individual. The exchange with our colleagues opened up new perspectives for us, which we were ultimately able to bundle into a tangible image. With the finished dialog picture, we can now better engage our employees and easily explain the topics and background information."“
